Flower Feather Farm is a chick and dahlia farm in the NW corner of Washington State. Year-round we custom hatch and hand-raise chicks for local chicken enthusiasts and offer farm-fresh table eggs and hatching eggs.
Our Mission Statement:
To provide a workable alternative to the practice of shipping live chicks by hatching hard-to-find and special order chicks for local pickup. To encourage and support local families in healthful chick brooding practices and flock management for happy and productive hens.

Ameraucanas (an actual breed) are not to be confused with Easter Eggers (a mix of breeds). Ameraucanas lay blue eggs in the most gorgeous shades and are a variation on the Araucana from Chile. They have the most adorable muffs and beards and are usually friendly sweet little birds.
These have gorgeous gold feathering and a soft blue-grey underfluff.

These are black chicks from my Ermine Ameraucana pens which lay the bluest eggs on the farm. Ermines hatch black, white, and black and white. These are the blacks from those hatches, not to be confused with black from BBS lines.

Ermine Ameraucanas grow up to have white and black feathers, like a Dalmation.
Chicken Scratchings

Well this is fun!! Addie Offereins interviewed us for her article, Are backyard chickens still booming? published in the July 16th edition of WORLD magazine.
Did you know that a good rooster is a huge blessing for your flock? A good rooster will keep the peace amongst the ladies, find and share nummie things to eat, and not only escort the ladies to the nesting boxes, but guard them whilst they lay, and sing their praises when they finish. But most importantly, he is constantly scanning for danger and will give up his life to protect his hens from harm.
Dr. Robin’s final bit of advice to me was to “Tell everyone that whenever you get chicks, pullets or even older birds, the virus can be there. It is basically everywhere. Expect losses, no matter what.”
We tried so many things on our chicken coop floors, switching it up every year or so, until we got our hands on some Hemp Bedding back in 2023. Game Changed!

So fluffy! So gorgeous. These gentle birds are winter-hardy and faithful layers of brown eggs. Jubilee Orpingtons are my most sought-after breeds with folks driving from Montana and Wyoming to pick them up.
