Wheaten Olivers: 2023’s New Flock

Ta-Da! Introducing the Wheaten Olivers.

Each year we try to bring in a new flock, a breed that is not already readily available in our area and that I personally am excited about. Awhile back I started to build a flock of Wheaten Olivers and earlier this week we had our first successful hatch. And wow, talk about successful! Five out of five eggs fertile, five out of five developed, and five out of five hatched. Good job ladies and gentleman!

WHEATEN OLIVE EGGERS 〰️ NEW 2023 〰️

A Wheaten Olive Egger is a hybrid of Wheaten/Blue Wheaten/Splash Ameraucanas and Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Marans who will lay lovely medium to large olive eggs, often with speckles. The birds are lovely and sweet, and can have with muffs, or beards, or feathery legs, or all three!

Expect the hens to be creamy gold with soft-blue trim and the roosters to have blue and black trim, much like their Maran and Ameraucana counterparts.
