A good rooster will keep the peace amongst the ladies, find and share nummie things to eat, and not only escort the ladies to the nesting boxes, but guard them whilst they lay, and sing their praises when they finish. But most importantly, he is constantly scanning for danger and will give up his life to protect his hens from harm.
